INDUSTRY: Industrial refrigeration equipment manufacturer.
APPLICATION: Cleaning the interior and exterior of medium to large diameter steel pipe (from 6 to 30 inches diameter, up to 12-1/2 feet long).
EQUIPMENT SOLUTION: Sample processing showed that the mill scale and contaminants were loosely adhering so suction blasting with aggressive aluminum oxide media could efficiently clean the parts and meet production requirements.
The versatile ZERO cabinet simultaneously blasts the OD and ID of the pipe.
Manually repositioning the blast guns readies the cabinet to handle different diameter parts.
PART HANDLING: Employees manually roll pipe from the transport table into the machine. The pipe rotates on twin drive shafts fitted with closely spaced urethane wheels to prevent marring.
A programmable logic controller stores parameters for up to 12 parts and adjusts the rotation speed, blast duration, and blast gun travel rate accordingly.
ADVANTAGES & SELLING FEATURES:
- Replacement of chemical process and airless blasting to eliminate maintenance, exposure liability, and chemical bath disposal costs.
- This one ZERO cabinet replaced an acid bath (and its associated hazards) and an airless blast machine. It greatly reduced the amount of welding rework caused by improper cleaning and eliminated a production bottleneck.
SPECIAL OPTIONS:
- External track and lance system propels internal and external blast gun arrays through the cabinet.
- Dual vertical-lift pneumatic doors open the length of the cabinet for part loading and removal.
|
CABINET SIZE: Custom enclosure - 14'W X 4'D X 6'H
MEDIA: Aluminum oxide
BLAST GUNS/NOZZLES: 10 ZERO automatic blast guns with #6 wide-spray nozzles.
RECLAIMER: 3,600-cfm pull-through cyclone separator, with rubber lining to resist wear from aluminum oxide.
DUST COLLECTOR: RPH 8L - 3,600-cfm reverse pulse collector with eight cartridges.

APPLICATION: Cleaning ID of straight tubes ranging from 1/16 inch to 7/8 inch and varying from 5 to 40 feet in length.
EQUIPMENT SOLUTION: Pressure blast nozzle attaches to one end of tube. Other end points into cabinet where multiple deflector plates knock media into vacuum recovery hopper.
PART HANDLING: Tilted rack holds tube prior to blasting. Molded urethane rollers align the tube between the nozzle and cabinet.
ADVANTAGES & SELLING FEATURES:
- Special blast head with tungsten carbide inserts allows quick changeover for different diameter tubes.
- Blast head glides along track to adjust to length of tube.
SPECIAL OPTIONS:
- Blast head holds specially made tungsten carbide inserts, sized to the ID of the tubes.
- Control panel mounted with blast head to keep start and stop functions at operator's fingertips.
- Dual blast machines - one for tubes and one for nozzle inserts 3/32" to 3/8".
|
CABINET SIZE: 4'W X 4'D X 5'H. Tracks measure 40 feet in length.
MEDIA: Aluminum oxide 100 to 400 mesh.

INDUSTRY: Office Products Equipment APPLICATION: Etch aluminum copier rolls to accept coatings. EQUIPMENT SOLUTION: Special cabinet with precisely aligned drive shafts to mask and rotate parts during blasting. PART HANDLING: Two track-mounted parts handling carts to insert and remove copier rollers through pneumatic doors. Carts feature PLC controlled arm to position roller. Rollers are held for blasting by combination masking fixture and parts rotation drive. ADVANTAGES & SELLING FEATURES: Exceeds customer expectation for production rate, and consistency of finished parts.
This is the second-generation ZERO automated machine purchased by this customer to process rolls. SPECIAL OPTIONS: Programmable Logic Controller integrates multi-step parts handling mechanisms, precisely placing, rotating and removing copier rolls without marring blasted surfaces.
Integrated sensors and proximity switches activate parts handling cycle only when parts are properly positioned on carts.
Clear vinyl skirting on media recycling stand and dust collector helps contain extraneous dust and reduce noise levels.
Multi-stage warning lights signal system start-up. |
CABINET SIZE: 4' x 4' x 6' with track extensions for parts handling carts. Rugged, externally mounted chain drive handles part rotation. Ball & screw conveyer ensures smooth, precise movement of gun array traversing parts. MEDIA: Aluminum oxide BLAST GUNS/NOZZLES: Four #6 wide spray boron carbide suction blast guns and one de-ionizing gun mounted on gun array to minimize dust contamination of rollers. RECLAIMER: 1,200-cfm cyclone separator, with vibratory classification and magnetic particle separator. DUST COLLECTOR: RPH 3L - 1,200-cfm reverse pulse collector with three cartridges. |
